Temperature control 1 Choose the control knob for the burner you want to use. 2 Press down and turn the knob anti-clockwise all the way to the high symbol. Flame failure safety feature Your cooktop has a flame failure safety device fitted. A metal probe behind the burner generates electricity when a flame is present. After 5 seconds the metal probe gets hot enough to hold a valve open and maintain the gas supply. If the flame is blown out then the gas to the burner is cut off.
