Operating Instructions Using Gas Safely Gas fuels and their uses can cause minor exposure to benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and soot, primarily from incomplete combustion. Significant exposure to these substances can cause cancer or reproductive harm. Properly adjusted burners with a blue, rather than yellow, flame will minimize the incomplete combustion. Venting with a hood, or open window will further minimize exposure. The maximum gas supply pressure may not exceed 14-inches W.C.P.
