Once you set the code, the phone will automatically remove it from local calls within your area when a number from Caller ID is dialed back. You must set the area code on both the handset and the base. To set your area code: 1. Make sure the handset or speakerphone is OFF. 2. Press ENTER. The FLASH button is also used to enter a pause in the dialing sequence when using the handset. PAUSE is used on the base. TIP: Do not use the PHONE or SPEAKER buttons to activate custom calling services, such as call waiting, or you will hang up the phone. Also, do not use the FLASH button to hang up the phone.
