The smoke alarm uses an extremely small amount of a radioactive element in the ionization
chamber. Do not tamper with radioactive sealed source or try to repair the smoke alarm

BACKUP BATTERY REPLACEMENT Disconnect AC power before changing battery. Shock hazard exists if AC power is miswired. This alarm uses a 9 Volt Alkaline battery. The battery should last for at least one year under normal operating conditions. The alarm has a low battery indicator, an audible "beep."
