2. Install the battery by following these steps: Align the battery’s exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors inside the battery compartment. Insert the contact’s side of the battery first and then gently push the battery into place. Replace the back cover. Turning the Device On for the First Time 1. Activating Your Device If you purchased your smart device at a Sprint Store, your device should be activated and ready to use. If you received your device in the mail and it is for a new Sprint account or a new line of service, it is designed to activate automatically. To confirm your activation, make a phone call. Setting Up Your Voicemail All unanswered calls to your device are automatically transferred to your voicemail, even if your device is in use or turned off.
