Operating Choose a location for the printer before you unpack it. Keep the following requirements in mind: Requirements Electrical • Use the supplied power cord. Environmental • Make sure the room is well ventilated, with a temperature and relative humidity within specifications (see “Specifica- tions” on page A-2). Optimal printing occurs within these ranges. • The high power UV light emitted by the curing lamps reacts with oxygen and produces ozone. This formation tends to be greatest during lamp start-up. Connecting the RIP The printer receives print jobs from a raster image processor (RIP) from HP and third-party manufacturers. Important Operating • UV CURE INK IS PERISHABLE. Unlike other inks used in wide format printing, UV cure ink Notes has a limited shelf life. Plan to rotate your ink stock and use it promptly by the date printed on the ink box. • DO NOT POWER DOWN THE PRINTER. Safety Warnings • UV light — the ultraviolet (UV) curing lamps emit high power UV light. The printer must be operated with all safety shield- ing installed to protect the operator from eye and skin dam- age.
