SYNCHRONIZING INFORMATION—BASICS ® NOTE To sync your info, you must install Palm Desktop software from the Palm Software Installation CD that came with your Treo 700P smartphone—even if you sync with Outlook or another third-party application. See the User Guide for info. Synchronizing means that information that is entered or updated in one place (your smartphone or your computer) is automatically updated in the other, so there’s no need to enter the information twice. Scrolling through screens As on a computer, you scroll on your smartphone to move from field to field or page to page, or in some cases to highlight an item or option in a list. There are several methods of scrolling: ■ Press the 5-way on the front of your smartphone. ■ Colored background: When a phone number, text, an email address, or a web link is highlighted, the item is displayed as white type on a colored background. After highlighting an item, you can select or activate it by pressing Center or by tapping the item with the stylus. Selecting menu items Many applications have menus to give you access to additional features. These menus are usually hidden from view, but they appear when you open the menus . To get the most out of your Treo smartphone, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the additional features available through the various application menus. 1.
