Plug the battery connector securely into the socket inside the handset battery compartment, matching the color-coded label. 2. Getting started Battery charging Once you have installed the battery, the screen indicates the battery status (see the table below). If necessary, place the handset in the telephone base or charger to charge the battery. For best performance, keep the handset in the telephone base or charger when not in use. Getting started Add and register a handset You can add new handsets (DS6401, purchased separately) to your telephone system, but each handset must be registered with the telephone base before use. Getting started Deregister handsets If you want to replace a handset or reassign the designated handset number of a registered handset, you must deregister all handsets.
