LG SL4Y - Support and Troubleshooting

How do I get my LG wireless subwoofer to work?

To connect your LG wireless subwoofer and make it work, follow these steps:
1. Plug the power cord of the Sound Bar and the Wireless Subwoofer into the outlet.
2. Turn on the Sound Bar.
3. The Wireless Subwoofer's linking ID is set at the factory to work with the Bar Speaker, so the two should link (connect wirelessly) automatically when both are powered on from an outlet.
If not, press and hold the "PAIRING" button on the back of the Wireless Subwoofer until the LED on the back of the Subwoofer blinks green quickly. (For some models, the pairing button is indicated by an icon that looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing into it).
4. After successfully establishing the link, SL4Y’s LED on the main soundbar unit will change from red to green, and the subwoofer's LED from blinking green to solid green.
5. Wait for the connection process to finish.
6. Once your subwoofer's LED light shows a steady, non-blinking green light, the soundbar and subwoofer should be connected.
If the connection process is not successful, it is recommended to retry the process nearer to the sound bar or to check whether the Subwoofer is powered on before sound bar power on.
Remember not to place the subwoofer too far from the soundbar, having a clear line of sight between the two can result in a better connection.
If the problem persists there may be a hardware or software problem and it would be best to contact LG or the retailer for support.

Why is my LG subwoofer blinking green and red?

There could be a few possible reasons for your LG subwoofer blinking green and red. Here are a few potential explanations:
1. Connection Issue: The blinking lights may indicate that there is a problem with the connection between the subwoofer and the main unit or audio source. Check the cables and connections to ensure they are properly connected and secure.
2. Power Issue: If the subwoofer is not receiving enough power, it may result in blinking lights. Make sure the subwoofer is plugged into a functioning power outlet and try using a different power source or cable to rule out any power-related issues.
3. Error or Fault: In some cases, the blinking lights could indicate an error or fault within the subwoofer itself. Try resetting the subwoofer by disconnecting it from the power source for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. If the blinking continues, consult the user manual or contact LG customer support for further assistance.
4. Wireless Connection Issue: If your LG subwoofer is wirelessly connected to the main unit or audio source, the blinking lights could indicate a problem with the wireless connection. Make sure the subwoofer and main unit are within the recommended range and that there are no obstacles interfering with the wireless signal.
It is recommended to refer to the user manual specific to your LG subwoofer model for troubleshooting steps and further information.

Why is my LG wireless subwoofer not working?

There could be several reasons why your LG wireless subwoofer is not working. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check the power connection: Ensure that both the subwoofer and the main unit are securely plugged into power outlets.
2. Verify the wireless connection: Make sure that the subwoofer is properly connected to the main unit via the wireless connection. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to establish the wireless connection.
3. Reset the subwoofer: Try resetting the subwoofer by turning it off and then holding the power button for about 5 seconds until you hear a beep. After this, turn it back on and check if it starts working.
4. Check the audio settings: Confirm that the audio settings on the main unit are correctly configured to output sound to the subwoofer. Some LG soundbars or home theater systems have a dedicated subwoofer volume control that may need to be adjusted.
5. Move closer to the main unit: If the subwoofer is located too far from the main unit, it may be out of range. Try moving the subwoofer closer and see if it starts working.
6. Interference issues: Other devices in the vicinity, such as wireless routers or Bluetooth devices, can cause interference with the wireless subwoofer signal. Make sure there are no other devices nearby that may be causing signal interference.
7. Firmware update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your LG sound system. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact LG customer support for further assistance.

How do I set up my LG Sound Bar sl4y?

To set up your LG Sound Bar SL4Y, follow these steps:
1. Place the sound bar in front of your TV or mounted on a wall, ensuring it is positioned correctly.
2. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT (ARC) port on the sound bar, and the other end to the HDMI ARC port on your TV. This allows audio to be sent from your TV to the sound bar.
3. If your TV doesn't support HDMI ARC, you can use an optical cable instead. Connect one end of the optical cable to the OPTICAL port on the sound bar, and the other end to the optical output port on your TV.
4. Plug in the power cord of the sound bar to an electrical outlet.
5. Turn on your TV and sound bar.
6. Use the remote control provided with the sound bar to power it on and set the desired volume level.
7. If your TV supports HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), the sound bar should automatically be recognized. You should be able to control the sound bar's volume with your TV remote. If not, you may need to adjust the settings on your TV to enable HDMI CEC.
8. If you want to connect additional devices like a Blu-ray player or game console, you can use the HDMI IN ports on the sound bar.
9. For a wireless connection, you can use Bluetooth to pair your smartphone or tablet with the sound bar for streaming audio.
10. Once everything is set up, you may need to adjust the audio settings on your TV to ensure the sound is outputting correctly to the sound bar. Refer to your TV's user manual for instructions on accessing the audio settings.
Remember, these steps are general guidelines, so make sure to refer to the manual that came with your specific LG Sound Bar SL4Y for detailed instructions.
