1. Connect the power cord.
Unpack the power cord from the box, plug one end into the back of the printer and the other end into a power socket.
2. Install the ink cartridges.
Open the ink cartridge access door at the front of the printer and wait for the carriage to move to the center. Remove the protective tape from the new ink cartridges and insert them into the matching slots. Close the door when done.
3. Load paper into the input tray.
Pull out the input tray from the bottom of the printer, load a stack of paper with the print side facing down, and adjust the paper width guide.
4. Power on the printer.
Press the Power button on the front of the printer. The printer will initialize.
5. Install printer software.
On the computer, visit the HP website, enter the printer model then follow the onscreen instructions to download the suitable driver compatible with your operating system. Run the setup file and follow the installation steps to install the software.
6. Connect the printer.
You can connect the printer to the computer or network. For a wired connection, connect the printer to the computer using a USB cable. For a wireless connection, go to the setup section on your printer’s control panel, select Network Setup, select Wireless Settings, and then select Wireless Setup Wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions.
7. Print a test page.
Finally, you should print a test page to verify that the printer is properly installed and in good working order.

To connect your HP Envy 5640 printer to Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your wireless network is functioning properly and your computer or mobile device is connected to it.

3. From the Wireless menu, select Wireless Settings, Network Setup, or Wi-Fi Setup.
4. Choose the Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup option. If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi network password or WPS PIN.
5. The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your wireless network from the list.
6. If prompted, enter your Wi-Fi network password and press Enter to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
7. The printer will attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Once the connection is established, the Wireless icon on the printer's control panel will stop blinking.
8. To verify the connection, print a wireless network test report or try printing a document wirelessly.
