The smoke alarm uses an extremely small amount of a radioactive element in the ionization

BACKUP BATTERY REPLACEMENT Disconnect AC power before changing battery. Shock hazard exists if AC power is miswired. This alarm uses a 9 Volt Alkaline battery.
