About this Guide This guide describes how to install and configure a Bluetooth connection between a Motorola A835 mobile and an HP iPAQ PDA running the Microsoft ® Pocket PC v4 (PPC 2003) operating system. It also describes how to then connect to the Internet from your PDA using your 3 mobile as a modem. This guide shows screens for the HP iPAQ h2210. Bluetooth Connection This section describes how to install and configure a connection between a Motorola A835 mobile and a PDA using Bluetooth. The steps include setting-up a connection to the Internet. Refer to the relevant product information or contact the manufacturer for any queries or issues with your Bluetooth hardware or software. 7. Enter +cgatt=0 in the extra dial string box. You may uncheck Wait for dial tone before dialling although this does not effect the connection. Now tap ok (in the top right-hand corner of your PDA’s screen), then Finish, then ok, then close Settings. Motorola A835 with HP iPAQ (PPC 2003) 7

Version 1.0, Dec 2003 B2. Creating the Bluetooth Connection The next step in the connection process is to establish the Bluetooth connection with your mobile. 1. On your PDA, tap the small Bluetooth icon at the bottom right of your screen and select Bluetooth Manager. 2. At the bottom of the screen tap New and then Connect! 8 Bluetooth Connection

Version 1.0, Dec 2003 5. On your mobile press Fast Menu, select Connection and then select Bluetooth Link. 6. Select Setup, ensure Power is switched On then select Find Me. This will allow your mobile to be discovered by your PDA for a period of 60 seconds. 10 Bluetooth Connection

Choose a 4 digit number, this is required only once to create bonding between your PDA and the mobile that you want to connect to. There may be other mobiles operating Bluetooth in the vicinity, this passkey ensures that you only connect to your own mobile. 10. On your PDA, tick the box for Use this phone as default connection to the Internet then select the 3 connection, tap Next, tap Finish then close the Bluetooth Connection Wizard 11. To connect your PDA to the Internet via your mobile, tap on the Connection icon located next to the clock and speaker icon at the top of the screen, then in the Connectivity dialogue box tap on the 3 connection link *99***1#. Operation B3. Making a Dial-up Connection If you have previously completed the Setup process, for day-to day operation you need only follow these steps. If you already have Bluetooth turned-on on your PDA and mobile go direct to step 4 in the process below. 1. If Bluetooth is not turned-on on your mobile, press Fast Menu, select Connection and then select Bluetooth Link. 2. Select Setup, select Power and change to On. To terminate the Internet connection on your PDA simply tap the Connection icon located next to the clock and speaker icon at the top of the screen and then in the Connectivity dialogue box tap Disconnect.
