Remove it before you use the SCP-87’s cassette player. CONNECTING TO POWER You can power your SCP-87 from: • Internal batteries • AC power (using an AC adapter) • Your vehicle’s battery (using a DC adapter) Using Battery Power The SCP-87 can use two AA batteries for power. Cautions: • You must use an AC adapter that supplies 3 volts DC power and delivers at least 300 milli- amps. Its center tip must be set to negative, and its plug must properly fit the SCP-87’s DC 3V jack. The recommended adapter meets these requirements. Insert the adapter’s 3.4 mm outer diameter/1.3 mm inner diameter tip into the adapter’s cord, so it reads –TIP. 3. Insert the plug into the SCP-87’s DC 3V jack. 4. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. Note: Connecting the AC adapter automatically disconnects internal batteries. 10

Listening Safely To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use headphones. • Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level. 13
