11 Installing Device Manager software Java Device Manager (JDM) is an SNMP-based graphical user interface (GUI) tool designed to manage single devices. To use Java Device Manager (also referred to in this manual as Device Manager), you must have network connectivity to a management station running JDM in one of the supported environments. The Device Manager software is provided on the software CD as a self-extracting executable file. Device Manager is also available from the Nortel web site. This

12 Installing Device Manager software In a Windows environment, a dm.ini file is created in the JDM install directory to save those IP addresses visited in JDM. In a UNIX environment, a ~/.jdm/dm.ini file is created to save those IP addresses visited in JDM. A JDM uninstallation operation does not remove this file. If you wish, you can move or copy these files from a previous version of JDM to a new JDM installation. JDM installation warnings The following warnings apply to both Windows and UNIX:
