3 Getting Started Balancing the surround sound You can further improve surround sound performance by balancing the levels from the subwoofer, center and surround speakers relative to the front left/right speakers. To help you judge the sound level of each speaker a test tone is played through each speaker in turn (make sure that there are no headphones connected). Adjust the levels until they all sound equal. 3 Getting Started Listening to the radio The following steps show you how to tune in to FM and AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and manual (step) tuning functions. 4 Shaping the Sound Adjusting the bass and treble The simplest way to shape the sound is by adjusting the amount of bass and treble.
