Terminology What is Scanning? Unlike standard AM or FM radio stations, most two-way communications do not transmit continuously. The UBCT8 scans the Frequencies you have programmed into the Scanner’s channels until it finds an active frequency. Scanning stops on an active frequency and remains on that channel as long as the transmission continues. When the transmission ends, the scanning cycle resumes until another transmission is received. Applying Power for Vehicle Installation You can power your scanner using the supplied DC cigarette lighter power cord or an DC power cord. Applying Power Using Standard AC Power To power the scanner from an AC outlet, use the provided AC adapter with a 5.5 mm outer diameter/2.1mm inner diameter tip. Scanning Overview You can scan in one of five ways: 1. Close Call RF Capture When you activate Close Call your scanner will detect nearby strong radio frequencies.
