STEP 1: INSTALL THE SOFTWARE 5 STEP 1: INSTALL THE SOFTWARE Note: You must install the software before connecting the scanner to your computer. Otherwise, the correct driver software for your scanner will not be installed and it may not work properly. To install the software: 1. Start Microsoft Windows and make sure no other applications are running. 2. Insert the Installation CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The next window lists the software that is available to install on your computer. 4. Select Nuance® PaperPort® and Scanner Driver. 5. Click Install Now. The PaperPort software will load first.

STEP 2: CONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY AND USB CABLE 15 The USB symbol, as seen in the above diagram, identifies the location of the USB port on your computer. If the plug does not attach easily, make sure that you are plugging it in correctly. Do not force the plug into the connection.
