Connecting the Telephone/Modem/Ethernet Lines Connect a telephone line, modem line, or 10BaseT line into the telephone/modem/Ethernet surge protection sockets on the back of the UPS. The UPS will perform a self-test each time it is switched on. Note: When switched off, and still plugged into utility, the UPS maintains the battery charge and will respond to commands received through the computer interface port.
