1.3 Detailed Installation Procedure This section provides step-by-step instructions for installing the host adapter. If you are experienced in these tasks, you may prefer to use Section 1.2, “Quick Installation Procedure.” 1.3.1 Before You Start Before starting, look through the following task list to get an overall idea of the steps you will perform. connector contacts. LSI Logic recommends using a static ground strap. Step 5. Locate the slots for PCI plug-in board installation. Refer to the user’s manual supplied with your computer to confirm the location of the PCI slots. This host adapter requires a 32-bit or 64-bit PCI slot that allows bus master operation. Step 7. Carefully insert PCI Bus edge connector J1 (see Figure 1.1)of the host adapter into the PCI slot. Make sure the edge connector is properly aligned before pressing the board into place, as shown in Figure 1.2.
