MAKING CONNECTIONS HDMI cables are available from your dealer and should not be more than 15’ (4.5 m) in length without having special signal repeaters ‘in line’ to make the signal go further. HDMI to DVI-D connectors will possibly work with the HDMI connector on the DVD 8 but they must provide the ‘digital handshake’ to the DVD 8 before it will offer an output signal from the HDMI connector. For DVD Audio or SACD disk playback the 5.1 channel analog outputs will need to be connected

GETTING STARTED SWITCHING ON After making sure that everything is connected properly and that the player is plugged in, press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the player on. Turn on your TV and make sure that it is set to the correct input for the DVD 8. The video display should be ON first if you are using the HDMI connection so that the HDCP copy protection “handshake” happens with the DVD 8.
