INSTALLATION ANTENNA CONSIDERATION The FT-2800M is designed for use with antennas presenting an impedance of near 50 Ohms at all operating frequencies. The antenna (or a 50 Ohm dummy load) should be connected whenever the transceiver is turned on, to avoid damage that could otherwise result if trans- mission occurs accidentally without an antenna. INSTALLATION MOBILE INSTALLATION The FT-2800M must only be installed in vehicles having a 13.8 Volt negative ground elec- trical system. Mount the transceiver where the display, controls, and microphone are easily accessible, using the supplied MMB-83 mounting bracket. BASIC OPERATION TRANSMISSION To transmit, simply close the PTT (Push To Talk) switch on the microphone when the fre- quency is clear.
