SET UP W1747 20" Planer Gearbox Oil Level Before starting your machine for the first time, make sure the gearbox has oil. The proper oil level is just even with the bottom of the fill plug hole. The gearbox uses 80W-90W automotive grade gear oil. To check the gearbox oil level, do these steps: 1. Wipe the outside of the fill plug clean. 2.
