Completing the Installation If you have a PC: You can now verify the COM port setting of your modem and perform a brief test. Follow these steps: Open Control Panel in Windows and double-click on 1 the Modems icon. Click on the entry for your new faxmodem and then 2 click on the Diagnostics tab. Solution: Your modem has a small speaker on its board that gives you audible feedback of dial tones and remote connection signals (“handshaking”). This is not the same as the speaker that you may have connected to your computer’s sound- card.
