HARDWARE SETUP 3.3 Hardware Setup Procedure Before using your computer, you must complete the following steps: • Check Motherboard Settings • Install Memory Modules • Install the Central Processing Unit (CPU) • Install Expansion Cards • Connect Ribbon Cables, Panel Wires, and Power Supply 3.4 Motherboard Settings This section explains in detail how to change your motherboard’s function settings through the use of switches and/or jumpers. 3. H/W SETUP Motherboard Settings 3. HARDWARE SETUP 1) JumperFree™ Mode (JEN) This jumper allows you to enable or disable the JumperFree™ mode. The JumperFree™ mode allows processor settings to be made through the BIOS setup (see 4.4 Advanced Menu). IMPORTANT: In JumperFree™ mode, all DIP switches (DSW) must be set to OFF and VID1, VID2, and VID3 (see 6) Voltage Regulator Output Setting) must be set to [3-4]. Disable the onboard audio CODEC if you are using an PCI audio card on any of the expansion slots or a primary AMR on the AMR slot (see AMR Slot later in this section). This allows the selection of the CPU’s External frequency. The CPU External Frequency multiplied by the Frequency Multiple equals the CPU’s Internal frequency (the advertised CPU speed).
