1.1 ABOUT THE SERIAL ATA INTERFACE The Serial ATA interface provides several advantages over the traditional (parallel) ATA interface. The primary advantages include: • Easy installation and configuration with true plug-and-play connectivity. 2.6 POWER SPECIFICATIONS The drive receives DC power (+5V or +12V) through a native SATA power connector. See Figure 10 on page 26. 2.6.1 Power consumption Power requirements for the drives are listed in the table on page 9.
