THE SEALED HOTPLATES BEFORE USING THE HOTPLATES FOR THE FIRST TIME Turn the control knob to a medium/high setting and allow the hotplate to heat, uncovered by a saucepan for 3-5 minutes. This hardens the protective coating on the hotplates, and makes it more resistant to normal use. CLEANING THE GRILL PAN, GRILL PAN GRID AND OVEN SHELF All removable parts, except the grill pan handle can be washed in the dishwasher. The grill pan and oven shelf may be cleaned using a soap impregnated steel wool pad. The grill pan grid should be cleaned using hot soapy water. Soaking first in soapy water will make cleaning easier.
