GLOSSARY BREW LOCKOUT: The inability to initiate a brew if the water temperature is less than the ready temperature programmed into the brewer. BYPASS: The process of diverting a portion of the brew water to the outside of the paper filter so that it does not pass through the coffee grounds. This process is sometimes used to optimize the flavor of the finished brew.
