Battery operation 1. Slide the battery cover catch in the direction of the arrow. Open the battery cover. 2. Fit six LR14 (C size) batteries into the spaces in the compartment. 1 Take care to ensure all batteries are inserted with the correct polarity as shown on the outside of the battery compartment. Operating your radio - DAB 1. Carefully extend the telescopic aerial (see page 4). 2. Slide the DAB/FM switch to the 'DAB' position. Switch on the unit by rotating the Function switch to the Radio position. The 'On' indicator 2 will light. 3. Selecting a station - DAB 1. When the unit is in DAB mode the upper line of the text display normally shows the name of the station currently tuned. 2 2 2. Repeatedly press the Tuning Up or Down buttons to scroll through the list of available stations on the lower line of the text display. Stop pressing the Tuning buttons when you fi nd the station that you wish to hear. 3 3. Press and release the Select button to cause the radio to tune to the chosen station. Display modes - DAB Your radio has a range of display modes:- 1. Press the Info button to cycle through the various modes. 1 a a. Scrolling text Displays scrolling text messages such as artist/track name, phone in number, etc. b b. Programme type Displays type of station being listened to e.g. Pop, Classic, News, etc. c c. Manual Tuning - DAB Manual tuning allows you to tune directly to the various DAB (Band III) channels. UK DAB stations are located in the range 11B to 12D. 1 1. Dynamic Range Control (DRC) settings - DAB only DRC can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment. This function is only for the DAB waveband. 1. Display modes - FM Your ZoomBox has a range of display options when in FM mode. The Radio Data System (RDS) is a system in which inaudible digital information is a 1 transmitted in addition to the normal FM radio programme. RDS offers several useful features. 1. Compact discs Use only Digital Audio CDs which have the symbol. Never write on a CD or attach any sticker to the CD. Inserting a CD 1. To open the CD compartment, push the OPEN/CLOSE button on the top panel. 2. Put the CD on the spindle until it clicks into place and close the CD 1 door. Playing a CD 1.
