Connections & Setup Things to Consider Before You Connect Protect Against Power Surges • Connect all components before you plug any of their power cords into the wall outlet. • Turn off the TV/VCR and/or component before you connect or disconnect any cables. • Make sure all antennas and cables are properly grounded. Connections & Setup Connect the TV/VCR There are several ways to connect your TV/VCR. If you want to connect your TV/VCR to another component, see the User’s Manual of the component for your connection. For an explanation of the back panel jacks go to page 8. Connections & Setup Jacks on the Back of Your TV/VCR If you are connecting many components, please consult the manual that came with each component for connection instructions. The picture of your TV/VCR’s back panel describes the jacks on the back of your TV/VCR and what types of components that you can connect to these jacks. Connections & Setup Plug in the TV/VCR Plug the end of the power cord into the wall outlet. Match the wide blade of the plug with the wide slot in the outlet. Insert the plug completely into the outlet. Put Batteries in the Remote 1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the remote. 2. Insert new batteries. Match the polarities (+ and -) on the batteries with the diagram on the remote. 3. Put the battery compartment cover back on the remote. Turn on the TV/VCR Press POWER on front of the TV/VC

Connections & Setup Setting the Clock SYSTEM SET-UP CLOCK SET The first step of the TV/VCR setup is setting the clock. You must set the clock in LANGUAGE/IDIOMA/LANGUE order to program a timer recording. To set the clock: CLOCK SET AUTO CLOCK ON OFF STANDARD TIME 1. Connections & Setup Setting Daylight Saving Time SYSTEM SET-UP The Daylight Saving Time is set to the AUTO position by default. If you want to CLOCK SET LANGUAGE/IDIOMA/LANGUE set the time manually you need to set it “ON” on the first Sunday in April, and AUTO CLOCK ON OFF set it “OFF” on the last Sunday in October. STANDARD TIME DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME Note: If your area does not have Daylight Saving Time, you need to set DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME the position to OFF. 〈+/–/ENTER/MENU〉 ON 1

Connections & Setup Adding or Removing Channels You might want to add or remove channels if some of them are not active, have weak signals, or you do not want them in your channel memory. A channel that has been removed can still be selected by pressing the remote control’s number buttons. 1. Press MENU on the remote (the MENU appears). 2. L O V Connections & Setup VCR Basics Now that you’ve finished the initial setup, you can watch TV. You can also begin using your VCR. In order to begin, you must first understand some basic concepts. Playing a Tape TIMER ON OFF EJECT EJECT Insert a tape in the TV/VCR. TIMER ON OFF EJECT If you are receiving UHF/VHF channels, select a channel by pressing two number buttons. For example, to select channel 2, press 0, then 2. Connections & Setup PLAY Plays a tape. PROGRAM Press to confirm the programmed timer and ON/OFF timer. RECORD Starts TV/VCR recording. RESET Resets video functions to factory settings. Also used to reset the time counter. REVERSE Rewinds the tape when the TV/VCR is stopped. Also searches the picture in reverse during playback. SKIP/SEARCH During playback, press to advance from 30 seconds up to 3 minutes. SLEEP Sets TV/VCR to automatically turn off. Each time you press SLEEP, the clock will count
