Installation Attaching the Hub Stand A stabilizing stand has been provided with the hub. It functions as a “foot” to provide a stable installation on a desktop or other flat surface. The twisted-pair cable extended from a twisted-pair port is called a “twisted-pair segment,” and it can be up to 100 meters long. Note: To connect port 5 to a computer or other non-hub device, make sure that you set the switch on the bottom of the hub to the “Normal” position. 3

Connecting Hubs Together Connecting (cascading) hubs together allows you to increase the number of ports available to the network. All stations attached to the cascaded hubs communicate with each other on the same network. 1. Use port 5 to connect the hubs together. Set this port to the “Uplink” position using the switch on the bottom of the hub. 2. Use a straight-through twisted-pair cable, connect one end to one hub in the “Uplink” position.
