INGLENOOK FIREPLACE OPERATION FUEL The Inglenook should be fueled with seasoned cordwood. Hardwoods will provide more energy per pound of wood consumed because of its superior density when compared to softwood. If hardwoods are utilized to fuel your Inglenook, the results will be a longer burning fire that requires less frequent refueling. COMBUSTION CONTROL The Inglenook is not designed to operate with a flue damper. As is standard practice with hi-tech high efficiency fireplaces, the Inglenook combustion air damper controls all air entering the firebox. This combustion air damper allows the owner more precise control of the fire by accurately controlling the air available for combustion. The combustion air damper control is located on the right side of the Inglenook just below the bottom edge of the top grill as shown

Only seasoned hardwood should be burnt in this manner. Burning softwoods, small dry pieces of construction scraps, trash or paper with the combustion air damper control wide open will cause a very intense fire to be created. change in the flame pattern. The flames will be slow and intermittent and may appear dirty if the wood is too wet i.e., a moisture content of 20% and more. 2. Negative Pressure As the Inglenook fire burns, the exhaust gases are drafted up and out of the chimney system. The Inglenook Fireplace system is “pulling” fresh air from somewhere to keep the fire burning properly. The Inglenook’s exhausted draft air has to be replaced via a properly operating outside air duct system connected to the fireplace. MAINTAINING YOUR INGLENOOK FIREPLACE CREOSOTE When wood is burned slowly, it produces tar and other organic vapors which combine with expelled moisture to form a black deposit called creosote. Creosote will accumulate on the flue lining and if left to build up, can create a potential fire hazard within the chimney system. When ignited, creosote makes an extremely hot fire. DOOR(S) INSTALLATION The Inglenook doors have been mounted and checked for proper fit at the factory. If the doors are removed for any reason, care must be taken in reinstalling the doors to ensure proper alignment and fit. Setting the doors is quite simple. Ensure the doors are in the fully open position and then align the female portion of the door hinge with the male portion of the fireplace hinge. DOOR GASKET REPLACEMENT Remove the doors from the unit. Place the doors, face down on a protective surface to ensure no marring or scratching occurs during gasket replacement. To replace the Thermoglass ™ knitted rope and tape gasket, first remove all of the old material and gasket cement. Use a putty knife or other sharp instrument to assist in removal. Use caution to prevent injury when removing old material. It is important to ensure the area is totally clean before installing the
