Thank you for purchasing a Canon product. The Canon Speedlite 580EX is an EOS-dedicated, high-output flash unit automatically compatible with E-TTL II, E-TTL, and TTL autoflash. It can be used in three different ways: As a normal on-camera flash, the master unit for a wireless, multi-Speedlite flash system, or a slave unit. Bounce Flash By pointing the flash head toward a wall or ceiling, the flash will bounce off the surface before illuminating the subject. This can soften shadows behind the subject for a more natural-looking shot. This is called bounce flash. Set the Bounce Direction Hold down the button and turn the flash head.
