Introduction About Your New UPS This Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is designed to prevent blackouts, brownouts, sags and surges from reaching your computer and other valuable electronic equipment. This UPS also filters out small utility line fluctuations and isolates your equipment from large disturbances by internally disconnecting from the utility line, while supplying power from its external batteries until the utility line returns to safe levels. 2. Hardwire the Electrical Connection Caution: The electrical connection must be made by an authorized electrician according to national and local regulations. Verify that the supply line contains a 25 Ampere circuit breaker BEFORE hardwiring the UPS. Ensure that the batteries are not installed in the UPS until the hardwiring is complete. 3. Connect the External Batteries The SU5000UXI contains no internal batteries. The figure shows the location of the battery pack connector on the UPS. Battery pack connectors are color coded; the 48 Vdc UXBP48M connector is blue. Battery pack connectors are also keyed to prevent improper connection. Do not try to install battery packs with connectors that are a different color from the battery pack connector in the UPS. The SU5000UXI can support a maximum of 10 battery packs. If a

Operating Instructions Switch On — Switch Off With the UPS plugged in, press and release the large upper on/test button to supply power to the loads. The loads are immediately powered while the UPS beeps and performs a self-test. Press and release the small, lower off button to turn off power to the loads.
