EN7 Charge Marker Charge marker A charge marker is provided on the battery pack to help you remember whether it has been charged or not. Two colours are provided (red and black)—you choose which one means charged and which means discharged. NOTES: c The recording time per charge is affected by such factors as the time spent in Record-Standby mode and the frequency of zooming. GETTING STARTED (cont.) 8 EN Slot Clock (Lithium) Battery Insertion/Removal This battery is necessary for clock operation and to perform date/time settings. SWITCH OFF POWER 1 Switch off the unit’s power and remove the power supply unit (battery pack, AC Power Adapter/Battery Charger, etc.). REMOVE BATTERY HOLDER 2 Pull out the battery holder. Battery holder INSERT BATTERY IN HOLDER 3 Insert the battery in the holder, and be sure to have the “+” mark visible. RE-INSERT HOLDER 4 Slide the holder

EN9 Date/Time Settings SELECT OPERATION SYSTEM AND 1 MODE System Set the System Select Switch to “VIDEO” or “D.S.C.” , Select Switch and set the Power Switch to “PRO.”. •The power lamp comes on. System SET RECORDING MODE Select Switch 1 First set the System Select Switch to “VIDEO”, then set the Power Switch to “AUTO” or “PRO.”. Press SP/ LP for more than 1 second. “SP” (Standard Play) provides higher picture and sound quality and is better for dubbing, while “LP” (Long Play) is more economical, providing twice the recording time. EN11 Cassette holder Loading/Unloading A Cassette OPEN LCD MONITOR 1 Open the LCD monitor to an angle of over 60 degrees. OPEN CASSETTE HOLDER 2 Slide EJECT until the holder opens. Do not use force to open. INSERT/REMOVE CASSETTE 3 Make sure the label is facing outward. PUSH Button EJECT Switch CLOSE CASSETTE HOLDER 4 Press PUSH and make sure the holder is closed and locked. EN17 Journalistic Shooting In some situations different angles of shooting may be required for more dramatic results. OPEN LCD MONITOR 1 Make sure the LCD monitor is fully open. TILT LCD MONITOR 2 Tilt the LCD monitor in the most convenient direction. •The LCD monitor can rotate almost full circle (270°: 90° downward, 180° upward). Interface Shooting The person you shoot can view himself/herself in the LCD monitor, and you can even shoot yourself while viewing your own image in the LCD monitor.

DIGITAL STILL CAMERA (D.S.C.) SHOOTING 18 EN LENS COVER Basic Shooting SNAPSHOT Button Open/Close Ring When shooting a still image, it is not recorded onto the tape, but it is stored in the camcorder's built-in memory in the selected Picture Mode. A stored still image data can be transferred to a PC, saved, and processed using a Paint System Software programme (Z pg. 49). D.S.C. SHOOTING (cont.) 20 EN SNAPSHOT Button FEATURE: Picture Mode Setting PURPOSE: There are two image settings you can choose from when storing in the camcorder's memory: FINE and System STANDARD. FINE allows you to shoot up to approx. Select Switch 30 still images in a format based on JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). Since the quality of image is better than “STANDARD”, “FINE” is more suitable for post-production on a PC. “STANDARD” allows you to shoot up to approx. 60 still images
