2: Introduction Addresses and Port Numbers Hardware Address The hardware address is also referred to as the Ethernet address or MAC address. The first three bytes of the Ethernet address are fixed and identify the unit as a Lantronix product. The fourth, fifth, and sixth bytes are unique numbers assigned to each unit. 3: Installation of PremierWave XC Hardware Components The PremierWave XC has two male DB9 serial ports that support RS-232/422/485. Figure 3-1 shows the front panel view of the device. 3: Installation of PremierWave XC Back Panel On the PremierWave XC back panel, there is a Barrel Connector for Primary Power (Power 1), 3- Pin Terminal Connector for Secondary Power (Power 2), USB 1, USB 2, RJ-45 Ethernet Port and Reset button as shown in Figure 3-5.
