B Installing the Modem 3 Connecting the SBG6580 This product is for indoor use only. Do not route the USB and/or Ethernet cable(s) outside of the building. Exposure of the cables to lightning could create a safety hazard and damage the product. 1. Verify that the coaxial cable is connected to a cable outlet. 2. B Connecting to the Internet 4 PROTECT YOUR NETWORK - CHANGE THE DEFAULT PASSWORDS! Default passwords are commonly shared on the Internet. Protect your information and your network from unauthorized access; change the modem’s default passwords BEFORE connecting to the Internet. Use an Ethernet connection to change the passwords. NEVER configure your modem over a wireless network connection. 1. Open a browser window. 2. Type in the IP address for the modem 192.168.0.1. 3. Type in

B Testing Your Internet Connection After changing the default passwords, you are ready to connect to the Internet. 1. Open a browser window. 2. Type in www.motorola.com. If you are able to see the Motorola website, you are ready to enjoy the Internet. If you cannot connect to the Internet you may need to configure your modem.
