Choosing a location To help guarantee the trouble-free operation of your machine, place it on a flat, stable surface near your workstation. Leave enough space to allow for easy paper loading and paper exiting, as well as opening the front cover. Do not place your machine: - In direct sunlight. - Near heat sources or air conditioners. - In dusty or dirty environments. LINE EXT. Document exit tray Insert the two tabs on the document exit tray into the slots on the front of your machine. Fold out the extender, if necessary. Installing the toner cartridge 1. Pulling the cover release buttons found on both sides of the machine toward you, open the cover. 2. Unpack the cartridge from its plastic bag, and then remove the paper rolled around the cartridge. Holding on to each end of the paper, pull it straight out, and then carefully remove it. 3. Shake the cartridge from side to side 5 or 6 times to redistribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. Installation 1.7

Loading paper For best results, use high quality xerographic paper. The automatic paper feeder can hold a maximum of 150 sheets of plain paper. The maximum capacity may be less, depending on the paper thickness. 1. Pull the paper tray on the automatic paper feeder all the way up. Paper tray Automatic paper feeder 2.
