Chapter 1 Turning the Camera On and Off 1 To turn on the camera, slide the power switch to the On ( | ) or Close Up ( ) position. The viewfinder light blinks green while the camera performs a self-check. Chapter 1 Checking the Battery Level Check the battery power level before you begin taking pictures. Don’t miss an important picture because the camera batteries are low or exhausted. For guidelines on battery usage, see page 70. 1 Turn on the camera. 2 If a battery symbol appears in the LCD, the batteries are low or exhausted. If no symbol appears, your battery is charged. Low —batteries soon need to be replaced or recharged. Exhausted (blinking) —batteries are too weak to power the camera.
