1 Getting Started 1 Congratulations on your purchase of a new KODAK DC3200 Digital Camera— the camera that takes pictures digitally, without the use of film. Preparing to Take Pictures Before you can start taking pictures, you need to install the batteries or connect a KODAK AC Adapter (Cat# 122-0557) for power. The AC adapter is available as an accessory from a dealer of KODAK products or from our Web site at http:// www.kodak.com/go/accessories. Your camera offers 2 MB of internal memory for picture storage. This internal memory retains pictures even if the power supply is interrupted. Turning the Camera On and Off Turn the camera on and off using the Power/Mode switch, located on the back of the camera. To turn the camera on in the Capture mode (to take pictures), set the Power/ Mode switch to the position. Checking the Batteries The DC3200 Digital Camera displays a battery symbol to indicate the battery power level. For guidelines on battery usage, See “Using Your Batteries” on page 50. Previewing a Picture Before it is Taken If you want to see what a picture looks like before you take it, you can preview the image on the LCD on the back of your camera. The live image that appears is helpful for framing your subject. Setting the Flash Use the flash when taking pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in heavy shadows. Your camera has three different flash options and a range of 8 ft (2.4 m), to accommodate most picture-taking situations. WARNING: Never use the flash while the camera is close to the eyes of the subject, especially young children. Intense light from the flash can cause permanent eye damage if used too close to the eyes. When using the flash, the camera should be at least 5 ft (1.5 m) away

Adjusting the Picture Quality Your camera compresses pictures according to the picture quality setting. If you intend to make large prints, you can capture more detail in the picture using the Best setting (but you will use more space in the internal memory or on a Picture Card). For everyday pictures, use the Better setting, which gives you more pictures using less storage space.
