(5) Error correction and retry by ECC If a recoverable error occurs, the disk drive itself attempts error recovery. The 40 bytes ECC has improved buffer error correction for correctable data errors. PREFACE This manual describes the MPE3xxxAH series, a 3.5-inch hard disk drive with a BUILT-IN controller that is compatible with the ATA interface.
