1.0 Scope ® ® This manual describes Seagate Technology LLC, Cheetah NS SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) disk drives. Cheetah drives support the SAS Protocol specifications to the extent described in this manual. 3.5 Formatted capacities Standard OEM models are formatted to 512 bytes per block. The block size is selectable at format time and must be a multiple of 4 bytes. Users having the necessary equipment may modify the data block size before issuing a format command and obtain different formatted capacities than those listed. 4.4 Prefetch/multi-segmented cache control The drive provides a prefetch (read look-ahead) and multi-segmented cache control algorithms that in many cases can enhance system performance. Cache refers to the drive buffer storage space when it is used in cache operations.
