15 Using the appliance for the fi rst time EN Installing the filter Some models are fitted with a water softener filter to improve the quality of the water used and extend the working life of the appliance. To install, proceed as follows: 1 Remove the filter from the packaging; 2 Slide the date indicator pointer (see fig. 29) until the months of use are displayed. 17 Turning on and heating up EN Each time the appliance is turned on, it performs an automatic preheat and rinse cycle which cannot be interrupted. The appliance is ready for use only after completion of this cycle. Important! Be careful. During rinsing, a little hot water flows from the coffee spouts. 18 EN Making coff ee using coff ee beans 1 The appliance is preset to make coffee with a normal taste. You can also choose coffee with an extramild, mild, strong or extra-strong taste. There is also a pre-ground coffee option. To choose the required taste, press the icon (B4) (fig. 7).
