BURNING SOLID FUELS continued... SHELLED CORN (Dry, preferably corn with 11- 12% moisture content) • Corn must contain less than 14% moisture content. Wet corn will rapidly deteriorate stove components, reduce efficiency and void all warranties. Purchase a moisture tester if in doubt. • Corn must be clean and free from debris. GUIDELINES FOR EXHAUST VENTING SYSTEMS DESIGN It is recommended that only an authorized installer install your pellet/corn stove, preferably an NFI certified specialist. GLASS MAINTENANCE, REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT Your Hearth Focus Corn/Pellet Stove comes to you with the glass door installed in place, ready for use. DISPOSAL OF ASHES Disposal of Ashes Ashes should be placed in a metal container with a tight fitting lid. The closed container of ashes should be placed on a noncombustible floor or on the ground, well away from all combustible materials, pending final disposal. If the ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or otherwise locally dispersed, they should be retained in the closed container until all cinders have been thoroughly cooled. Weekly Maintenance • Shut down the stove as directed in the operating instructions. Allow the stove to cool to room temperature. Remove the small clean-out slides in the lower corners of the firebox.
