ASSEMBLY If your unit has been preassembled, check each step to make sure the unit has been properly assembled. FRONT HANDLE FRONT HANDLE See Figure 2. 1. Remove the front handle, bolt, and wing nut from the WING NUT Owner’s Kit. 2. Install the front handle onto the top side of the drive BOLT shaft housing and move it to a comfortable position. 3. ASSEMBLY GRASS DEFLECTOR WITH EDGER GUIDE - TRIM ‘N EDGE ONLY (Continued) See Figures 5 and 6. 1. Remove the wing nut, flat washer, lock washer, and bolt from the Owner’s Kit. 2. Place the grass deflector over the shaft and bracket. 3. Slide the assembled edger guide over the tabs on the grass deflector and bracket. 4. OPERATION ADVANCING THE STRING DANGEROUS ADVANCING STRING USING THE EZ LINE™ TAP CUTTING AREA ADVANCE SYSTEM String advance is controlled by tapping string head on grass while running engine at full throttle. 1. OPERATION EDGER GUIDE OPERATION - TRIM ‘N EDGE ONLY See Figures 10 and 11. WING NUT ■ Loosen the wing nut and slide the edger guide to adjust it to the desired trimming length then retighten the wing nut securely. Refer to “Edger Guide Assembly” earlier in this manual for additional information. ■ The edger guide allows the trimmer to be used as an edger for cutting along sidewalks, driveways, flower beds, etc. The edger guide is convenient to use and supports the trimmer as it is being used as

Set the choke lever to the choke position . 4. Squeeze the throttle trigger to the full throttle position. 5. Pull the starter until the engine tries to run. No more than 6 pulls. 6. Turn ARROWS ON counterclockwise. SPOOL 2. Remove the spool from the string head. NOTE: Keep the spring attached to the spool. Remove any old string remaining on the spool. ANCHOR 3.
