Handling Paper General Guidelines The machine is designed to print on standard copier paper (the type used in ordinary dry copier machines), but it can also accept a variety of other types of paper within the limits specified below. Handling Paper Selecting the Right Paper This section describes the guidelines for selecting paper. Condition Avoid using paper that is bent at the edges, curled, dirty, torn, embossed, or contaminated with lint, clay, or paper shreds. Use of paper in these conditions can lead to illegible printing and paper jams, and can shorten the life of the machine. Handling Paper Envelopes Envelopes should be fed in the face-up position, right edge first. Since the composition of an envelope is more complex than that of ordinary paper, it is not always possible to ensure consistent printing quality over the entire envelope surface. Handling Paper Preprinted Paper Preprinted paper should satisfy the same conditions as white bond paper, refer to Paper Specifications, on page 1-2.The preprinted ink must be able to withstand the heat of fusing during the printing process, and must not be affected by silicone oil.
