2-1 Drive Installation Chapter 2 Drive Installation This chapter provides instructions for installing the drive in: ■ The removable media bay of a workstation or server ■ An external storage unit NOTE: For the remainder of this user guide, “system” will be used in place of “workstation” and/or “server”. 2-2 Drive Installation Preparing the System To prepare your system prior to the installation: 1. Perform a normal system shutdown. 2. Turn OFF the system. 3. Turn OFF all external peripheral devices attached to the system. 4. Disconnect all power cords - first from the AC mains outlets then from the system and the external peripheral devices. 5. Connect a power cable and a SCSI signal cable to the drive. IMPORTANT: If available, use the last connector on the power cable.
