INSTALLING THE ROUTER Before installing the Barricade™ Broadband Router, verify that you have all the items listed under “Package Contents.” If any of the items are missing or damaged, contact your local SMC distributor. Also be sure that you have all the necessary cabling before installing the Barricade™ Router. After installing the Barricade™ Router, refer to the web-based configuration program in “Configuring the Barricade™ Router” on page 35 for information on configuring the router.

Installing the Router Hardware Description The Barricade™ Router can be connected to the Internet or to a remote site using its RJ-45 WAN port or RS-232 serial port. It can be connected directly to your PC or to a local area network using any of the Fast Ethernet LAN ports. It can also function as a print server. CONFIGURING CLIENT TCP/IP If you have not previously installed the TCP/IP protocols on your client PCs, refer to the following section. Setting Up TCP/IP 2. In the Control Panel, locate and double-click the Network icon. 3. On the Network window Configuration tab, double-click the TCP/IP entry for your network card. 4.
