Motorola 2247-N8 DSL Wi-Fi Gateway User Guide Connecting the Gateway Location Guidelines 1. Decide on a location for the 2247-N8. Put the 2247-N8 near an AC wall outlet (the power source) and a phone jack activated for DSL, in a cool location where none of the 2247-N8’s vents will be blocked. Motorola 2247-N8 DSL Wi-Fi Gateway User Guide Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network Setup The 2247-N8 Wi-Fi Gateway has a default network "name," or SSID (ser- vice set identifier) that uses a unique 8-digit number in the format “xxxx xxxx”. The 2247-N8 broadcasts this unique network name so that wire- less computers and other devices can detect it. Motorola 2247-N8 DSL Wi-Fi Gateway User Guide Wired (Ethernet) Network Setup With the 2247-N8 powered on, use the following steps to make a wired connection from a computer to the Ethernet ports on the 2247-N8: 1. Locate the yellow Ethernet cable included in the package. Insert the plug on one end of the cable into any of the four yellow ports on the back of the 2247-N8.
