Chapter 2 – Hardware Installation Installing the Modem Driver If you use Windows 2000 or newer, you must install the modem driver. If you use another operating system, see Appendix C. When operating the modem under Windows, the modem driver can be installed by using the Plug and Play feature. Follow the 4-step procedure below. 1. Chapter 5 – Troubleshooting The Modem Disconnects While Online • If you have Call Waiting on the same phone line as your modem, it can interrupt your connection when someone tries to call you. If you have Call Waiting, disable it before each call. In most phone areas in North America, you can disable Call Waiting by preceding the phone number with *70 (check with your local phone company).
