WARNING! A CAREFUL NAVIGATOR NEVER RELIES ON ONLY ONE METHOD TO OBTAIN POSITION INFORMATION. CAUTION When showing navigation data to a position (waypoint), a GPS unit will show the shortest, most direct path to the waypoint. It provides navigation data to the waypoint regardless of obstructions. The Global Positioning System (GPS) was launched July 17, 1995 by the United States Department of Defense. Speed, direction of travel, and distance are all calculated from position information.
